Beacon House Child & Youth Advocacy Centre
Beacon House’s Child & Youth Advocacy Program is a voluntary service offered to all families involved with the centre during a child abuse investigation. Advocates provide immediate and ongoing support by explaining the process and helping connect families to community partners. The advocate will help the family transition through the different phases of the reporting process and into long-term support programs.
The mission of Beacon House is to support children, youth and families within a safe and supportive environment when they’ve experienced abuse. The centre’s centralized location will promote healing and minimize trauma during the investigative process.
Children will have access to services that promote well-being & security. Children are connected to a child advocate who will help them navigate the services we house all under our own roof, provided through our strong community partnerships in London-Middlesex.
How is this service accessed?
Families involved in a child abuse investigation with the London Police Service that accept to to go through the program are connected with the advocate and then are invited to Beacon House.
What is the process?
Police are notified when a child is suspected of being victimized by crime and an investigation is opened.
What is the cost?
Families that go through Beacon House incur no cost to them. Families that need assistance getting to and from Beacon House, payment for parking, or any other accommodation can make a request by contacting Beacon House.
